Statistical studies indicate students completing our program have increased proficiency by a minimum of 1 grade level.  Empirical studies have shown an increase in positive character growth in students completing our program.

Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with disabilities:

#1L requests a copy of IEPs and 504s in order to properly organize a student learning plan.  Meeting in home allows for disability access, and if sessions are in libraries/community centers we make sure tutors and parents arrange sessions at locations with sufficient disability access.

Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with limited English proficiency:

Tutors of English Learners will apply research based instruction in English-language arts and math to students that includes customizing instructions to create developmentally and culturally appropriate lessons for all learners, comprehensive vocabulary checklists for common English words and concepts, practical methods for using the learner’s native language and culture in the classroom, and helpful strategies for teaching spoken English, reading, and writing (Jesness, 2004).

Monthly progress reports are mailed to parents, teachers, and LEA.

#1L currently serves SES to students in Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Virginia, and Washington.  #1L is also planning on opening an east coast corporate office in fall 2010.
