Evidence that services have been effective:

Carnival Tutoring is a highly effective tutoring service as evidenced by the improved test scores, motivation and grades. This has been demonstrated by positive feedback from parents.

After an initial evaluation that involves the parent, we develop and individual program that are tailored to help students improve their educational skills.

Reading and reading comprehension skills.

The number of tutoring sessions depends on the academic needs of the student.


Average length of each service session (minutes/hours):

The average length of each session is generally one hour. However, depending on each child’s needs this can be extended.


Duration of the available service period (e.g. September 1 – June 30; September 1 – August 31; weekends only; summer school only; specific number of weeks or hours, other, etc;):

Carnival Tutoring is available twelve months a year.  We also provide service for students on Saturday and Sunday.


Type of instruction:

Carnival Tutoring provides one-on-one tutoring for students.


Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with disabilities:

Carnival Tutoring works with the various libraries which are accessible to students with disabilities. We also go to the student’s home.  This is a major advantage for the parents and students.


Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with limited English proficiency:

Carnival Tutoring is fully prepared to meet the needs of students with limited English proficiency.


Qualifications of the service provider(s)/instructor(s):

The owner of Carnival Tutoring has more than ten years experience as a certified New York City school teacher, within the public school system. In addition, the owner has experience in working with special education students.  The owner has also owned and managed a computer learning center that prepared young children for the use of computers.


Reports to parents, teachers, and LEA (Content, frequency, method of delivery):

Carnival tutoring works closely with the parents to ensure that progress is fully understood and identified.  The LEA will receive copies of all progress reports to verify the excellent service provided. 


Will transportation to the service location be provided at no charge if requested? (Note: LEAs are not required to provide or pay for transportation)

Carnival Tutoring does not provide transportation.  However, one of the benefits of Carnival Tutoring is that we are able to either go to the students home (under the supervision of a parent) or to the local library.
