EnCompass meets the individual needs of learner’s with disabilities through the use of assistive technology such as;

The majority of students speak English. Bilingual staff is available for our Hispanic students and families using the same service delivery model and assistive technologies. |

Qualifications of the service provider(s)/instructor(s): |
EnCompass was established in 2004 as an outreach initiative by the board of The Norman Howard School (NHS). Taking the successful skills and strategies developed over the previous 24 years at NHS and teach at risk students who need academic support. The Norman Howard School boasts a 98% graduation rate vs. the national graduation rate of 34% for students with learning disabilities. Successful instructional practices include; Executive Functioning Skills, Visual, Auditory and Kinetic learner modules. Repetition and strength based programs that address the individual needs of each student help to ensure success. 92% of instructors are NYS Certified, 35% are duo certified. |

As indicated by research, EnCompass relies on frequent, structured, multiple sessions for the development of language skills for ELLs, which incorporate the intensive use of oral language through dialogue, conversation, story telling and reading aloud. Emphasis will be placed upon developing phonemic awareness and over time, increasingly sophisticated vocabulary knowledge. EnCompass will provide explicit and intensive instruction targeted to develop basic mathematics concepts and skills, and will provide language support to develop word problem-solving. |

No, transportation is not available, however both locations are conveniently located on a bus line. |
