Years provider has delivered service: The Sylvan Learning Centers of Southern Westchester, with locations in Bronxville, NY and White Plains, NY, have been in operation as a licensee of Sylvan Learning, Inc. since December 1998.  Sylvan Learning, Inc.,the leading provider of tutoring to grades K-12, operates in more than 1000 locations and has provided services to more than two million students for over 25 years.
3. Evidence that services have been effective:

Sylvan Learning students improve an average of over 1 grade equivalent level after 36 hours of instruction in Academic Reading and Math Essentials Programs.

Ace it!” Tutoring reading students
moved up 6.6 percentiles on average
after 28 hours of instruction, while math students moved up 11.3 percentiles on average after 32 hours of instruction.

Sylvan Learning (In Center/Online):
Diagnostic and prescriptive; individualized instruction with a student teacher ratio of 3 or less.

Ace it! Tutoring (In School):
Initial assessment to identify learning needs; small classes (no more than 8 students per class) based on needs and ability levels.  Covers core skills required on state tests.

Additional relevant information: Sylvan is the nation’s leading provider of supplemental education and tutoring services serving more than two million students over 25 years.  Sylvan Learning and Ace it! Tutoring instruction are based on individual students’ academic assessments.  Sylvan Learning’s program is delivered in a Learning Center or online, while Ace it! Tutoring is delivered in the school.  Student achievement is monitored after each session and progress is measured at the end of the program.  The goal is to help each student develop the skills to do better in school and the confidence to do better in everything else.
