Academic Excellence Tutoring Services, Inc. is a new provider; however its leadership team has a proven track record of success. Our program was developed by Arizah Bemiah- Francis, a former New York City teacher with nine years of teaching experience. In addition, she was a site coordinator for an SES tutoring company in Syracuse.

   Our Program Managers are certified in Special Education, Elementary Education and Reading. They have extensive experience working with at risk students.


Evidence that services have been effective:

The curriculums we have selected are research based and highly effective. There is documented evidence of their effectiveness in schools across the country.

Voyager Passport and Corrective Reading for Reading/English Language Arts. Voyager’s V Math and Connecting Math Concepts for Mathematics.

Two to three sessions per week.


Average length of each service session (minutes/hours):

1.5 to 2 hours per day during the week. Three hours for our Saturday group sessions.


Duration of the available service period (e.g. September 1 – June 30; September 1 – August 31; weekends only; summer school only; specific number of weeks or hours, other, etc;):

September 1 through August 31.  During the week and on the weekends. We will offer tutoring before school and after school. Throughout the school year, during winter break, spring break, and summer recess.

Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with disabilities:

Academic Excellence will review IEP's with classroom teachers and principals.  We will design a Supplemental Learning Plan based on the goals of the IEP. In addition, we intend to place Special Education students with teachers who are certified in Special Education.

   We will differentiate instruction and provide additional support for students with disabilities. If the student will make more progress with one on one tutoring, we will accommodate the child.


Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with limited English proficiency:

We will place ELL students with bilingual tutors who are fluent in their first language. Our curriculum includes lesson plans for ELL students and we will differentiate instruction.

   Academic Excellence will provide English Language Learners with concrete visual examples, repetition, graphic organizers, and guided practice.


Qualifications of the service provider(s)/instructor(s):

Academic Excellence will only hire New York State certified teachers.


Reports to parents, teachers, and LEA (Content, frequency, method of delivery):

Progress reports will be mailed monthly.  The reports will include progress monitoring scores, goal attainment, and attendance.


Will transportation to the service location be provided at no charge if requested? (Note: LEAs are not required to provide or pay for transportation)

When transportation is available, we will provide it for students who request it.
