Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with disabilities:

Compass Learning instructional focus helps us identify students gaps in knowledge and skills, develop the prescription to overcome the gaps, and then track their progress.”

The Compass Learning program automately adjusts to each individual student's learning level. It begins with a pretest to determine a student level of learning.  Compass Learning then establishes a differentiated learning path. Each student learning path is based on the results of their pretest. Allowing for each individual student's needs to be met and allowing them to learn at their own pace.


Description of methods and strategies for serving eligible students with limited English proficiency:

Nicholas Literacy Center computer program Compass Learning is capable of adjusting to individual student levels. The program Compass Learning is also capable of adapting to Limited English Proficient (LEP) students. Compass Learning provides lessons in English or Spanish. Students and parents will be required to fill out and submit a short questionnaire before tutoring begins to establish the needs of the student. Questionnaires will be available in Spanish and English. Based on information submitted, students will be matched to a qualified tutor based on that tutors experience and qualifications (language spoken and areas of expertise).


Qualifications of the service provider(s)/instructor(s):

All tutors are supervised by a NY State certified teacher.


Reports to parents, teachers, and LEA (Content, frequency, method of delivery):

Parents will receive biweekly verbal and monthly written reports through email or USPS mail. Teachers and LEA will receive monthly written reports via Email or USPS according to their preference.


Will transportation to the service location be provided at no charge if requested? (Note: LEAs are not required to provide or pay for transportation)
