AP Test Fee Program Changes for 2013
The final appropriation for the AP Test Fee Program for Fiscal Year 2013 has just been determined by Congress. There are two major changes to the funding available for low-income students AP Exams in 2013:
- The federal subsidy for AP Exams taken by low-income students has been reduced to $45 per exam in 2013.
- The College Board fee reduction for AP Exams taken by low-income students will remain at the same level as last year, $26 per exam in 2013.
As a result, low-income students will need to pay a fee of $10 for each exam taken.
Below is a breakdown of the AP Exam fee for low-income students in 2013:

Thank you for your patience while we waited for the final AP Test Fee Program appropriation to be announced.
Please make sure that you order your AP tests from the College Board; the deadline for ordering exams is April 19.
Advanced Placement (AP)
IMPORTANT NOTICE to Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinators:
AP and IB vouchers, together with the roster of eligible students, for reimbursement of the associated cost/fees must be submitted to the New York State Education Department (NYSED) by October 31, 2013.
Vouchers will not be accepted after this date.
What the school must do:
- The ordering deadline for AP Exams has been extended to April 19, 2013 to help ensure that schools have an opportunity to place orders for any affected students. The College Board emailed schools, alerting them to the ordering deadline extension.
- With the AP Exam administration just three weeks away, we ask you to please share this information with your districts and schools as soon as possible.
Before the exams:
- In the AP Exam Ordering website, enter the total number of students whom your school can attest fulfill the federal criteria to receive fee reductions for low-income students, and the total number of exams that will be taken by these students.
After the exams:
- Fill in the "Option 1" circle on qualifying students' AP Exam answer sheets.
- When generating your invoice online, enter the following numbers when prompted:
- The total number of exams taken by qualifying students up to three AP Exams per student.
- The total number of exams taken by qualifying students beyond three AP Exams per student.
- The AP Coordinator must submit a copy of their invoice to the State as well as a signed roster, which is available here:
