The New York State Department of Education would like to introduce its first ever DTSE Journal to the field (September 2012 issue).  The DTSE Journal will take the place of the previously published Memo To The Field.  The DTSE Journal is produced in Microsoft Publisher.  For those who do not have Microsoft Publisher, you can click here to download the universal .xps format.

The New York State DMV's Office For The Younger Driver launches it's Recent News Web page. This page maintains current newsletter updates as well as the Temporary Special Advisory Panel On Driver Education Availability and Curriculum Enhancement panel report and appendix.  The Office For The Younger Driver will be updating this page on a regular basis. The page is located at http://nysdmv.com/youngerdriver/news.htm.

April 2010: DTSE Summer Program Approvals

The annual summer rush to apply for Driver & Traffic Safety Education program approval is almost upon us. The New York State Department of Education published this memo to the field offering guidance to programs seeking approval to conduct DTSE courses.

March 2010: 2010 DTSE Guidelines

The New York State Department of Education published this memo to the field announcing the revised 2010 version of the Driver & Traffic Safety Education Guidelines. Driver and Traffic Safety stakeholders and advocates from across New York State offered their input, expertise, and guidance throughout this collaborative process which began in February 2009. Talking points are also available as an abridged document highlighting the major changes to Driver & Traffic Safety Education under the tools menu.

February 2010: GDL

New Graduated Driving Law changes will effect junior drivers as of February 22, 2010. The areas affected include number of passengers, elimination of the limited use junior license, and increased supervised driving hours. January 2010: NYSDTSEA

The New York State Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association (NYSDTSEA) launches its new Web site located at http://www.nysdtsea.org/. This newly formed professional association is composed primarily of high school and college driver education instructors, supervisors, coordinators and safety enthusiasts throughout New York.

September 2005: Driver & Traffic Safety Education Student Reciprocity

Effective September 1, 2005, the New York State Education Department will no longer process applications for MV-285.1 Request for Approval of Out-of-State Secondary School Driver Education Course or issue the MV-285 Student Certification of Completion.
