Sample Agenda

Sample Agenda: Civil Rights Compliance Review at a school or BOCES Two days

Day 1:

9:00 am:
Opening discussion with Superintendent, and/or Assistant Superintendent, and/or Building Principal and/or CTE director (and/or others at the superintendent’s discretion)

9:30 – 10:15 am:
First interview e.g., Administrator responsible for CTE

10:30 – 11:15 am:
Second interview e.g., CTE teachers (business education, technology education, family & consumer science, etc. It should be a diverse group – male, female, ethnic, handicapped, etc.)

11:30 – 12:15 pm:
Third interview e.g., guidance/ counselors

Lunch break

afternoon Tour of grounds, facility with facility manager using maps/floorplans
provided prior to visit

Day 2:

8:30 – 9:15 am:
Fourth interview e.g., CTE students (should be a diverse representation of the student body – male, female, ethnic, handicapped, high-achieving, low-achieving,
etc.)

9:30 – 10:15 am:
Fifth interview e.g., Director/Coordinator of Special Education,

10:30 – 11:15:
Sixth interview e.g., Human Resources/ Personnel Director/hiring/employment personnel

Prepare/ review notes

Lunch

1:00 pm:
Exit interview: review findings with Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, Principal, CTE Director, et al. depending upon the wishes of the Superintendent

Note 1:
For confidentiality reasons, the interviews need to be private and conducted in a private room (e.g., small conference room) with only the individual(s) being interviewed present.

Note 2:
The interviews are informal. The groups can be scheduled according to school class breaks and availability of those to be interviewed.
