2009-10 Title I School Quality Review Planning and Implementation Grant Application

Background

In the spring of 2009, the School Quality Review (SQR) was conducted in SINI-1 schools identified in March, 2009. The SQR Basic Review included the following activities:

  • SINI-1 schools completed a self-assessment using the Quality Indicators (QI) document and submitted it to the SQR Team, along with their Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) and other supporting documentation.
  • After reviewing the submitted documentation, the SQR team provided written recommendations to the school.
  • The school must consider these recommendations in developing their Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP) for 2009-10.

Purpose of Grant

The purpose of this grant is to support the implementation of the recommendations that were identified through the School Quality Review process.

Eligibility

Each district with a SINI-1 school(s) identified in March, 2009 that participated in the SQR Basic Review process in the spring of 2009 is eligible to receive a grant of $30,000 multiplied by the number of participating SINIs as follows:

Grant funds must be spent only on the SINI for which they have been allocated.

Grant Period:

July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.  No extension or carry over of funds is allowed.

Allowable Expenditures:

  • Activities related to conducting data analysis, revising curriculum and increasing student achievement, as recommended in the SQR Basic Review report.
  • Activities to improve teaching and learning, as recommended in the SQR Basic Review report.
  • Professional development, as recommended in the SQR Basic Review report.
  • Planning to facilitate SQR Team recommendations and to revise Comprehensive Educational Plans.
  • Consultant services to address educational issues/recommendations contained in the SQR Basic Review report.
  • Grant funding should be used to support school programs that enhance major educational objectives, as referenced within the SQR Basic Review report.

Non-allowable Expenditures:

  • Equipment (items with a unit price of $5,000 or more – Code 20) and Supplies and Materials consisting of equipment such as desktop or laptop computers, printers, etc. with a unit price of less than $5,000 (Code 45)
  • Food
  • Out-of-state and over-night travel
  • Indirect costs

Submission Instructions:

A complete application consists of:

  • Application cover page;
  • SQR chart for each school being funded;
  • Statement of Assurances;
  • Certification Regarding Lobbying, etc;
  • FS-10 Budget Form
