This table summarizes data on black and Hispanic students enrolled in public schools during the 2008-09 school year. Although 39.8 percent of the State's public school students were black or Hispanic (see Table 4), these students were not equally distributed among the school districts. New York City enrolled 64.3 percent of the total number of these two minority groups; the "Big Five", collectively, enrolled  72.0 percent.
