Complying with the Tax Cap (Chapter 97, Laws of 2011)

The State Education Department will hold an online technical assistance session on complying with the New York State Tax Cap on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Sign on begins at  2:00 p.m.

This will be an opportunity to ask questions and get answers on the tax cap.  For questions before the event, please submit them to emscmgts@mail.nysed.gov.  For questions during the event, you will enter them from your computer in the chat box provided by Elluminate.

In order to ensure maximum participation we would ask each BOCES to host groups of districts at their BOCES.  This will also complement the Elluminate webinar format by allowing you to discuss the material among the participants at each BOCES.

REQUIRED PRIOR TO TRAINING SESSION: The first time you will be using Elluminate, you may be prompted to download some software which may take anywhere from two to 20 minutes depending upon your Internet connection speed. A number of problems may occur at this stage so it is important to complete this step prior to the training.  You can pre-configure your system with the required software by going to the support page located at: http://www.elluminate.com/support.  This will ensure that you will be able to get into the training session.

When you enter the training session:
Enter your name (First and Last) at the login prompt.  This training session does not require a password to join. Please leave the password field blank.

To join the session, copy and paste the URL, Training Link, into your browser.  Retyping the link may cause problems as there are underscores in the address which are difficult to see.

Please make sure your computer speakers are on (not muted) to be able to hear while you are in the Elluminate session.  If you do not use your computer speakers, you will want to test this function prior to the session as well. If you have a microphone headset, you will be able to speak to ask questions. Otherwise, you can enter questions via the “Chat” window.  We will give directions on how to do this at the start of the session.  We will be speaking to participants as they log in, prior to the start of the formal session, to be sure that everyone can hear us.  If you sign in and do not hear anything for a number of minutes, please send us a note through the “Chat” window and we will respond.    Thank you.
