Title I School Status Change
We have received many calls from Local Education Agencies (LEAs) that wish to change a Non-Title I school to Title I, or a Title I school to Non-Title I as part of their 2011-12 Consolidated Application. Below are the two requirements for either type of change.
PLEASE NOTE: The deadline for reporting Title I status for School Report Cards has passed, so none of these updates can be included in this year’s report cards. This information can only be used to review grants and monitor NCLB compliance for the 2011-12 school year. The deadline for Title I school status changes to establish eligibility for Title I School Improvement grants is October 31, 2011 unless there is a late accountability determination for a specific school.
TO DOCUMENT TITLE I SCHOOL STATUS CHANGES:
1. The LEA must complete the Title I Supplement online and show
the correct status for each school in the LEA. http://www.p12.nysed.gov/nclb/cladcep/1112/suppinstruct.html ALL LEA
schools must be reported.
A NYSED reviewer will check the Supplement to verify the status for
all schools identified under Differentiated Accountability (DA).
2. The LEA must also send an email with TITLE I STATUS CHANGE & LEA NAME in the subject line to CONAPPTA@MAIL.NYSED.GOV to certify any change from the original information that was reported for Title I accountability. The email must include the following information for each DA identified school in the district:
- BEDS Code & School Name for each DA identified school
- Correct Title I status for each school listed above
- The reason for including or excluding the school for Title I funding based on the Non-Regulatory Guidance for Section 1113 http://www.ed.gov/programs/titleiparta/wdag.doc or Section 1113 of NCLB http://www2.ed.gov/policy/elsec/leg/esea02/pg2.html#sec1113.
This information will be used to determine NCLB requirements and eligibility for Title I School Improvement Grants, so the email must be sent by an LEA administrator rather than support staff. We only need the schools identified under Differentiated Accountability in the email. The Title I Supplement is sufficient for reporting the Title I status for schools in Good Standing.
