Mandated Services Aid claims for the 2010-11 school year

Status of MSA Reviews and Payments
2010-11 School Year
February 21, 2012

The due date for submission of Mandated Services Aid claims for the 2010-11 school year was January 11, 2012.  The total dollar amount of the claims received by the due date exceeds the funding available to pay Mandated Services claims.  As stated in our guidelines, payments will be pro-rated based on available funding.  It is estimated that the payment of claims will need to be reduced by 13.3%.  It is expected that payments will be made within 14 days for those claims currently in “Auto Approved”, “Approved” and “Post Review Pending” Status.

In an effort to disburse funds in a fair and equitable manner, the Office of Grants Management will allow approximately four to six weeks from the due date for review of those claims that have gone into Hold.  It is important for schools to respond in a timely manner to any requests for additional information from staff.  As each claim in “Hold” is approved, it will be invoiced and paid within 14 days of the approval.

Once the Department has had sufficient time to review the claims in Hold and has allowed schools an ample amount of time to respond, schools that did not submit by the due date will be allowed to do so.  Those claims will be processed accordingly and placed on Fiscal Hold until additional funds become available.
