Learning Context
The purpose, objective, or focus of the learning experience:


The purpose of this project is to help students manage the stress in their lives more effectively.  Students will use previously learned stress management information to address specific personal stressors.

Health, Physical Education, and Family & Consumer Science

Standard 1: Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and maintain physical fitness; participate in physical activity and maintain personal health.

            Performance Indicators:

·        Students will demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to promote healthy development into adulthood.

·        Students will apply prevention and risk reduction strategies that can delay the onset or reduce the risk of potential health problems into adulthood.

·        Connection to other curricular areas: Enhanced stress management techniques promote enhanced performance in all other curricular areas.  For example, more sleep and better time management may allow students to produce higher quality work with improved thinking and organization.

English Language Arts

Standard 3:Students will read, write, listen and speak for critical analysis and evaluation.

Performance Indicators: Throughout the project, the students will be expected to maintain a daily log of their progress.  This log is turned in each week to the teacher.  It is shared with a classmate as well, for dialoging, critiquing, and offering strategies for improving each other’s progress. 

Career Development and Occupational Studies

Standard 3a: Students will demonstrate mastery of the foundational skills and competencies essential for success in the workplace.

Performance Indicators: Students will monitor their growth throughout the project.  At the conclusion of the project, the students will give examples of additional situations in which they can apply the process in the future.
