Letters of Intent to Apply
Thirty (30) Letters of Intent to Apply to establish new charter schools authorized by the Board of Regents in 2012 were submitted to the State Education Department on January 17, 2012. The 2012 Letters of Intent to Apply include information about each proposed school location, grade levels and target population, school design and five founding board members.
Only Letters of Intent that meet all content and submission requirements as described in the New York State Education Department Request for Proposals to Establish Charter Schools Authorized by the Board of Regents (2012 Charter School Application Kit) are accepted and invited to move ahead in the application process. Of the 30 Letters received, 10 were not accepted because they were either late or did not meet the content or submission requirements. Twenty (20) applicants, representing 12 NYC proposed schools and eight proposed schools in the communities of East Ramapo, Poughkeepsie, Riverhead, Rochester City, Schenectady City, Utica City (two proposed schools) and Yonkers City, are permitted to advance in the process. Their Letters of Intent are posted below. Full Applications are due to the Department on February 27, 2012.
