APPALACHIAN REGIONAL COMMISSION/OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY SUMMER OPPORTUNITY FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

For the past 13 years the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), in collaboration with the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has sponsored a two-week residential hands-on learning institute focusing on math, science, and technology for high school students and teachers from New York State’s Appalachian Region (Allegany, Broome Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins counties).  This year’s institute for high school students will be held from July 9 to 22, 2011.  Applications are due March 11, 2011 .

This coming summer the ARC will also offer a summer institute for middle school students.  The 2011 Middle School Summer Science Camp will be held from July 17 to 22, 2011.
