Eighth Webinar Series: Response to Intervention Hosted by the New York State Response to Intervention Technical Assistance Center

The New York State Education Department, Office of Special Education is pleased to announce the eighth strand in a series of free webinars to be offered by the New York State Response to Intervention Technical Assistance Center (NYS RtI-TAC) on topics related to the development and implementation of RtI frameworks in schools across the State. These webinars are being offered as part of the new RtI Personnel Development Project. Additional webinars will be presented throughout 2015. All webinars will be archived on the NYS RtI-TAC website (http://www.nysrti.org/ external link icon) for future review.

To ensure dissemination to appropriate individuals within a school district, Superintendents should share this memorandum with individuals such as Principals, All Instructional Staff, RtI Team Members, Directors of Special Education, School Psychologists, Committee on Special Education Chairpersons, Committee on Pre-School Special Education, Directors of Pupil Personnel and Parent Teacher Associations.


Strand 8: Differentiating Core Instruction Within An RtI Framework


Differentiating Core Instruction Within an RtI Framework is a 3-part webinar series that focuses on differentiated instruction within an RtI framework. It begins with a discussion of differentiated instruction as a teaching and learning process designed to address the diverse abilities of students in the same classroom. Succeeding sessions will discuss how classroom teachers can differentiate core instruction to accommodate the instructional needs of all students.

Intended Audience:

Differentiating Core Instruction Within an RtI Framework is intended for teachers, support staff, principals, and anyone interested in learning more about differentiated instruction as it relates to core instruction in an RtI model.


Dr. Jeanne Wanzek is an associate professor at The Florida State University and on the research faculty at the Florida Center for Reading Research. She is a former special educator and elementary teacher who conducts research examining effective reading instruction and intervention. She is the author of more than 40 publications and numerous national and international presentations in the areas of early reading, learning disabilities, and adolescent reading intervention.
