The New York State Education Department, P-12: Office of Special Education is pleased to announce the second strand in a series of free webinars to be offered by the New York State Response to Intervention Technical Assistance Center (NYS RtI-TAC) on topics related to the development and implementation of RtI frameworks in schools across the State.  These webinars are being offered as part of the new RtI Personnel Development Project.  Additional webinars will be presented throughout 2013 and 2014.  All webinars will be archived on the NYS RtI-TAC website (www.nysrti.org external link) for future review.

2013-14 RtI WEBINAR SERIES
Strand 2: The Role of Assessment: Purposes of Assessment Within a RtI Framework; Universal Screening Within a RtI Framework; Progress Monitoring Within a RtI Framework; Diagnostic Assessment Within a RtI Framework
Description: This strand features four webinars designed to facilitate a deeper understanding regarding the purposes and roles of assessment within a RtI framework.  Specific attention will address universal screening and progress monitoring, as well as diagnostic assessment.  The key to understanding assessment within a RtI framework is an understanding of the purposes of assessment and how a school’s existing assessment measures can be used to gain understanding of student performance for comparative, progress, and instructional purposes.
Intended Audience: The Role of Assessment Within a RtI Framework is intended for school personnel who are involved with administrative and logistical arrangements involving universal screening and/or progress monitoring as well as individuals responsible for developing and implementing tiered and supplementary instruction.
