Slide 28: Management Needs
To document management needs, the Committee must determine the nature of and degree to which environmental modifications and human or material resources are required to enable the student to benefit from instruction in consideration of the student’s present levels of performance in the areas of academic achievement, functional performance and learning characteristics; social development and physical development. At this point in the IEP development process, the Committee is identifying needs, not specific recommendations to address those needs.
Examples of environmental modifications needed might include consistency in routine, limited visual or auditory distractions or adaptive furniture.
Examples of human resources needed might include assistance in locating classes and following schedules or assistance in note taking.
Examples of material resources needed might include instructional material in alternative formats or text-to-speech and speech-to-text software.
