Slide 17: Reporting to Parents
The IEP must identify when periodic reports on the progress the student is making toward the annual goals will be provided to the student’s parents (such as at the same time that school report cards are issued).
How districts choose to report the information to parents is not stipulated in regulation, and the methods may vary from student-to-student based on their unique needs. The information should be sufficient to identify progress or lack of progress so that, if necessary, the Committee could reconvene to review and, if appropriate, revise the IEP goals. The information reported to parents should be written objectively, clearly and in language that the parent can understand.
