Speaker Notes:

Slide 5:  Background and Expected Outcomes

The State acted to mandate the use of these notices based on findings that Meeting Notices provided to parents did not always fully inform parents about the information they need; and that, by law, they are entitled to have.

By providing a mandated form, the meeting notices are more likely to be complete and inform parents of information they are entitled to know so that they can plan and are prepared to participate in the special education meeting for their children. In addition, State forms will assist school districts to meet procedural federal and State compliance requirements relating to parent participation in meetings.
