Special Education

As of November 1, 2016, the following regional need for center-based preschool programs has been identified within NYC:

ALL complete applications for Special Classes in Integrated Settings throughout New York City will be considered, with priority in these areas:

 

BROOKLYN (Kings County)

  • Districts 14, 20, 21 or 22 with bilingual services (including Yiddish).                       
 

BRONX (Bronx County)

  • All Bronx Districts with bilingual services (including Spanish).

 

QUEENS (Queens County)

  • Districts 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30 with bilingual services (including Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarin).

 

MANHATTAN (New York County)

  • District 04, 05, 06 with bilingual services (including Spanish, Cantonese and Mandarian).

 

STATEN ISLAND (Richmond County)

  • District 31 with bilingual services (including Spanish)

 

A limited number of additional Special Classes (SC) are needed as follows:

 

BROOKLYN (Kings County)

  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 8:1+2 ratio serving District 13.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 8:1+2 ratio serving District 20, 21, or 22.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 15, 20, or 21.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 21 providing bilingual services (including Yiddish).
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 32 providing bilingual services (including Spanish).
 

BRONX (Bronx County)

  • Three full-day Special Classes with a 6:1+2 ratio serving District 10, 11, or 12.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 8:1+2 ratio serving District 10, 11, or 12.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 12:1+2 ratio serving Districts 8 or 9.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 11.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 12.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 8 providing bilingual services (including Spanish).
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 10 providing bilingual services (including Spanish).

QUEENS (Queens County)

  • One full-day Special Class with a 8:1+2 ratio serving Districts 24, 25, 28, 29, or 30.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving Districts 24, 25, 28, 29, or 30.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 25 with bilingual services (including Mandarin).
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 28 with bilingual services (including Bengali).
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 29 with bilingual services (including Spanish).

 

MANHATTAN (New York County)

  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 6:1+2 ratio serving District 02.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 6:1+2 ratio serving District 03.
  • Two full-day Special Classes with a 8:1+2 ratio serving District 01, 02, or 03.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 02.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving Districts 05 or 06.

 

STATEN ISLAND (Richmond County)

  • Four full-day Special Classes with a 6:1+2 ratio serving District 31.
  • Three full-day Special Classes with a 8:1+2 ratio serving District 31.
  • One full-day Special Class with a 12:1+2 ratio serving District 31 with bilingual services (including Spanish).

Applications will be considered as they are received and determined to be complete.  Preference will be given to agencies currently approved to operate in NYC.  All programs requesting consideration must be able to provide all services indicated on the students’ IEPs.  This posting will be updated as classes are awarded to qualified applicants.  The application form can be found at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/specialed/applications/preschool-home.html
