Seeking Applications - State Approved 853 School-Age Provider Program Expansion Opportunity in NYC

The Catherine Laboure Special Education Program has notified the New York State Education Department (NYSED) that it will cease operation effective August 31, 2017.  As a result, private schools currently approved by the New York State Education Department to serve School-Age Students with Disabilities within New York City are invited to submit applications to serve the following:

Student Population Profile

  • Ages 5-14 classified as having an Intellectual Disability (ID), a Learning Disability (LD) and/or a Speech or Language Impairment (SI)
  • Ages 15-21 classified as having an Intellectual Disability (ID)

Special Classes Needed

  • Five full-day Special Classes Ages 5-14 with a 12:1+1 ratio serving students classified as having an Intellectual Disability (ID), a Learning Disability (LD), and/or a Speech or Language Impairment (SI)
  • Four full-day Special Classes Ages 15-21 with a 12:1+1 ratio serving students classified as having an Intellectual Disability (ID)

Applications will be considered as they are received and determined to be complete.    All programs requesting consideration must be able to provide all services indicated on the students’ Individualized Education Program.  This posting will be updated as classes are awarded to qualified applicants.  The application form can be found at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/specialed/applications/schoolage-home.html
