A Message from the Assistant Commissioner
Welcome to the Office of Special Education website. We
have designed this website to be as helpful as possible to parents,
students, school districts and others interested in the education of
children with disabilities.
This is an exciting and challenging time for all of
us. Students with disabilities are telling us that they can meet higher
standards and are expecting more out of all of us to ensure that the
supports are there to help them achieve the knowledge and skills
necessary to live independent lives. Meeting the higher
expectations of our students requires that families, educators and
community leaders have access to the information and supports needed to
assist students in the development and pursuit of their life goals.
