CAUSATION


Causation text structure presents cause-and-effect relationships between ideas or concepts. Usually causes come before effects. Be sure to look for causes when effects begin to appear.

Cues:

  • Organized with words or phrases that include: reasons for this, because, was caused by, so...

Contexts:

  • Historical factors contributing to outbreak of war, reasons why animals are becoming extinct, features why a president was elected...
