Example:

  • Both the North and South sides had certain advantages at the beginning of the Civil War. The north possessed approximately three-fourths of the nation's wealth and had more than twice the manpower of the South. In addition to its vast farmlands, the North also operated all the factories in the country. The South, on the other hand, was fighting a defensive war and did not have to carry the fighting to Northern soil.
