Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Centers - PDF File (46KB)

I am pleased to announce that, with the implementation of New York State’s new Regional Special Education Technical Assistance Support Centers (RSE-TASC), the New York State Education Department (NYSED) is now funding technical assistance positions (Nondistrict Specialists) specifically targeted to provide technical assistance to the State’s approved private schools, Special Act School Districts, State-supported and State-operated Schools serving school-age students with disabilities.  These individuals will provide regional training to groups of schools within a region and will assist selected schools to make research-based improvements in the instructional and behavioral programs for students with disabilities.

I have requested that the Nondistrict Specialists begin outreach and visits to the schools within his/her respective region to assist in identifying priority schools and issues for technical assistance.  In this process, the Nondistrict Specialists will be focusing primarily on the school’s implementation of research-based instructional programs in the areas of literacy, behavioral supports and specially-designed instructional practices.

I look forward to our collaborative work to provide high quality, research-based instructional programs to our students.  For contact information for the RSE-TASCs, see http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/specialed/techassist/rsetasc/locations.htm
