Postsecondary Transitioning Resources for Students with Disabilities

The U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights, has two letters on their website which provide information about the legal rights of students with disabilities as they transition from high school to postsecondary education institutions. The "Dear Colleague" letter is intended for higher education administrators, while the "Dear Parent" letter is aimed to assist parents of students with disabilities.

In addition, the Department has made available question and answer documents titled "Transition of Students with Disabilities to Postsecondary Education: A Guide for High School Educators," and a revised version of "Students with Disabilities Preparing for Postsecondary Education: Know Your Rights and Responsibilities."
