Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC)

Applications were collected until March 31st and are currently under review for membership in the Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC).

In an advisory role, members will provide written and verbal feedback to the Department on suggested resources, policies, and implementation strategies. Our goal is to obtain feedback and advice from the educational community regarding such matters as technology planning, BYOD and 1:1 initiatives, computer-based testing, professional development, online and blended learning, the role of school librarians in educational technology, technology literacy standards, and educational technology-related statewide policy.

The committee will include individuals from across New York State representing P-20 teachers, administrators, and library media specialists; educational technology specialists from BOCES and Regional Information Centers; and representatives of various educational organizations.

Members will have the opportunity to serve as a liaison between NYSED and their school or organization, and will be asked to serve for four years.

During this exciting period of growth in the area of educational technology, we need partners in the education community to be ambassadors of the work and help share timely information with local district educators, parents, students, and other key stakeholders.

Expectations: The meetings are generally held once per month at the same time of the month, with some independent work between meetings, such as providing comments on draft documents. Meetings will be held via Webex or the equivalent technology. All participants are welcome to attend in person at NYSED's Albany offices. Should a participant choose to attend on-site, it will be at their own expense as there are no funds available to reimburse for travel.
