NYS Guidance on Response to Intervention

The New York State Education Department is pleased to announce the release of the document Response to Intervention: Guidance for New York State School Districts. Response to Intervention (RtI) is a multi-tiered early prevention and intervention system designed to improve outcomes for all students. The purpose of the guidance document is to provide information and guidance to school districts on how to design and implement an effective RtI process, including, but not limited to information regarding regulatory requirements, quality indicators, staff development, tools to assist districts in selecting a specific model and procedures for the use of RtI data in determining if a student has a learning disability. Smart Scholars Early College High School Program Request for Proposal Announced

The Smart Scholars Early College High School Program is an important new funding opportunity available through the New York State Education Department to support the transformation of traditional high school and college models in New York State. Six million dollars ($6,000,000) is available to establish a network of early college high schools throughout New York State. This Smart Scholars Early College High School (ECHS) Program seeks to support students who traditionally attend college at disproportionally low rates, succeed in high school and college.

Teacher Quality Partnership Grants program

The U.S. Department of Education has announced the availability of $143 million in regular 2009 appropriations and funding under the American Recovery and Rehabilitation Act of 2009 to support new awards under the Teacher Quality Partnership Grants program.
