Directions:
Enter the number of students in the column Number in Eligible Population. The number displayed in the column Minimum Number Required for Sample will be the minimum number of students for whom data must be collected and submitted to the Department. As an alternative, if it is less burdensome to do so, school districts may submit data on all eligible students with disabilities for each indicator in the year in which they are assigned to submit data for Indicators listed in the title.

Federal Indicator and Margin of Error	Number in Eligible Population	Minimum Number Required for Sample
7: Preschool Outcomes Margin of Error: 5%	Entry level: Enter the number of eligible children:	The calculator will display below the minimum number of students required for the sample.
8: Parent Involvement Margin of Error: 10%	Enter the number of eligible children:	The calculator will determine the minimum number of surveys required for the sample when a user enters the number of eligible children. This minimum number is displayed below in red (Total: XX). Multiply the minimum number by 10 to determine how many surveys should be distributed. If the minimum number times 10 is more than the number of students with disabilities, order only enough surveys for all students. If the minimum number times 10 is less than the number of students with disabilities, order the minimum number times 10. Ordering 10 times the minimum number ensures that districts with large populations of students with disabilities with an IEP are over-sampling to achieve an acceptable return rate.
11: Child Find-Timely Evaluations and Eligibility Margin of Error: 2%	Enter the number of eligible children:	The calculator will display below the minimum number of students required for the sample.
12: Early Childhood Transition Margin of Error: 2%	Enter the number of eligible children:	The calculator will display below the minimum number of students required for the sample.
13: Secondary Transition Margin of Error: Not Applicable	A calculator is not required for this indicator	All school districts complete a review of IEPs of eligible students, for up to 30 students. New York City review at least 100 IEPs
14: Post-School Outcomes Margin of Error: 5% for school districts with more than 100 in eligible population	Enter the number of eligible children:	The calculator will display below the minimum number of students required for the sample.
