New York State Blue Ribbon Award Winners
On September 15, 2011, U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized 305 schools as 2011 National Blue Ribbon Schools for their overall academic excellence or for their success in closing achievement gaps. The U.S. Department of Education will honor 256 public and 49 private schools at a conference and awards ceremony in Washington, DC on November 14 and 15. Each school will receive a plaque and a flag to signify their status as National Blue Ribbon Schools. New York State has 17 public schools winning the 2011 Blue Ribbon Award.
