Education Law Section 2053 School District and BOCES Reporting PDF icon

Important Note

Do not use your browser's forward and back buttons because the information just entered on the page you are leaving will not be ‘Saved’ in the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Lawyer Reporting database.

  • Designate an individual representative from the school district/BOCES to be responsible for Education Law 2053 reporting by granting them access to the ‘SED monitoring and Vendor Performance System’. The SEDDAS Delegated Administrator for the school district/BOCES has the ability to grant access to the ‘SED monitoring and Vendor Performance System’ and entitle them with rights to the Education Management Services via the State Education Department Delegated Account System(SEDDAS). The SEDDAS User Guide on creating and entitling users can be found at:  http://www.p12.nysed.gov/seddas/completeuserguide.pdf
  • Once the school district/BOCES representative has been granted access to the ‘SED Monitoring and Vendor Performance System’ and entitled to the Education Management Services, the school district/BOCES representative can access the ‘SED Monitoring and Vendor Performance System’ by going to http://portal.nysed.gov, clicking the 'Log In' link at the upper right of the screen and entering their username and password.

Note: All questions regarding user names or passwords can be directed to the school district/BOCES SEDDAS Delegated Administrator or the SEDDAS Help Desk at seddas@nysed.gov

  • You will then be taken back to the NYSED Portal web page. Under the heading ‘My Applications’ toward the top of this page, click on the following links: ‘SED Monitoring and Vendor Performance System’, then select ‘Educational Management Services’, then ‘Ed Law Section 2053 Report’.
  • You will then be taken to a welcome screen. Press the button that says, ‘View’.
  • If you have started a form to report legal services provided by a law firm or an individual lawyer, before closing the page or your browser, you must hit the ‘Save’ button or you will lose any information you have already entered in that form.
  • Once you have completed the form, carefully review the information you have provided. When you have determined that all the information on the current form is correct, click the appropriate button at the bottom of the form. You must click the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the form to save your data. Once you have saved the form, you may exit the system. Close this window to return to the NYSED Application Portal. To log out of the NYSED Application Portal, click "Log Off" at the upper right corner of the Portal page.

If you have questions on completing the report, please contact Althea Johnson @ althea.johnson@nysed.gov or 518-486-2201.
