Public Charter School Annual Report formats- and protocol, including the School Report Card, are currently under revision by the Department in order to focus on more rigorous and comprehensive evaluation of charter school performance and effectiveness. Additionally, our revisions will streamline the process and make it more user-friendly. In light of the statutory reporting deadline of August 1, 2010, we are providing the following guidance:
- Because the State assessment data necessary to prepare the 2009-2010 Annual Report and complete analysis of the academic performance of your school in that school year is not yet available and will not be available prior to August 1, 2010, it will not be possible to fully comply with the Annual Report requirements by the August 1 ,deadline. In light of this circumstance and the Department's pending revision of the formats and protocols for the Annual Report, we recommend that by August 1, 2010 you resubmit your 2008-2009 Annual Report, post it on your website and make it publicly available as required by law, with a notice that the 2009-2010 Annual Report will be submitted, posted and made publicly available after the State Education Department releases the assessment data and a revised format for the Annual Report.
- Once the Charter School Annual Report format and reporting protocols are revised, the Department will issue guidelines and a timetable by which to submit the 2009- 2010 report. The revised 2009-2010 Charter School Annual Report forms and submission guidelines will be posted on the NYSED Charter School website and electronically disseminated this summer. The deadline for submission of the Charter School Annual. Report will be extended to provide a reasonable period of time for your thorough review and analysis of your comprehensive student achievement results. Final information about the Annual Report and the due date will be included with the revised forms and guidance.
The revised Annual Report content will provide for a more complete picture of your school's strengths, opportunities and challenges over the past year.
