NYSED Data Collection

The Data Collection section is about data collected from all entities who are required to report to the New York State Education Department. NYSED provides information, forms, instructions and other resources to schools and districts and other agencies who provide educational services in New York State, in order to assist them in gathering and reporting the data for programs they provide. These data are then collected by the NYS Education Department.

Student Information Repository System (SIRS)
Electronic collection of student demographic, programs, assessment and enrollment data, as well as teacher/staff and course information. Also known as the Level 2 Statewide data warehouse.

Basic Educational Data System (BEDS)
The data collection page now has two separate links for BEDS data. One for PMF and one for Student Basic Educational Data System (BEDS)

    A Statewide comprehensive course catalog has been developed to support the reporting of Teacher Student Data Linkage (TSDL) information.

    Student Management Systems - Vendor Support
    This site is designed to keep NYS School Systems vendors up-to-date on ongoing requirements and specifications related to the NYS SIRS data warehouse.

    New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA)
    Reporting assessment results for students with severe cognitive disabilities.

    Special Education Data Collection and Reporting Unit (SEDCAR)
    Pupils with Disabilities PD System reporting.

    Violent and Disruptive Incident Reporting (VADIR)
    VADIR data collection is now part of the School Safety and the Educational Climate (SSEC) reporting process.

    Dignity For All Students Act (DASA) Reporting
    DASA data collection is part of the School Safety and the Educational Climate (SSEC) reporting process.

    School Safety and the Educational Climate (SSEC) Data Collection (VADIR/DASA)
    System for collecting and reporting district/school violent and disruptive incidents and incidents of discrimination and/or harassment. Includes data collection for both Violent and Disruptive Incident Reporting (VADIR) and Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) reporting.

    System for Tracking Education Performance (STEP)
    Historic electronic system used from 2002 to 2006 to report and verify secondary-level assessment, graduation/transfer/post-graduate plan, and program services data.

    Nonpublic Schools
    Forms and instructions for reporting assessment and graduation data for nonpublic school students.
